LVA HOME Research and Evidence Capabilities - Post-Doctoral Research Scientist

Purpose:

The demand for high quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR), health services research (HSR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment/access decisions, product differentiation, clinical decision making, and shape the health policy environment continues to increase.  The Lilly Value and Access Health Outcomes and Medical Engagement (LVA HOME) team is looking for talented, energetic, creative, diverse, influential, and collaborative team members to join our function and Team Lilly.

The Health Outcomes Post-Doctoral position in Lilly’s Research and Evidence Capabilities (REC) team will develop your scientific expertise to create health outcomes research for patients, population-based decision-makers (PBDMs) and providers. Projects will focus on disease states and health services of interest to Lilly or treatments that Lilly is developing and may span the entire lifecycle of clinical development and drug commercialization. Responsibilities include health outcomes study execution using technical expertise appropriate for the role (e.g., scope or depth in statistical analysis, economic modeling, clinical trials, observational/ epidemiologic research, and health technology or other value assessment),and may include the conduct of analytics and use of common statistical software. Through your work on these studies, you will demonstrate understanding of clinical, economic, and/or patient reported outcomes methodologies.  You will communicate study findings to internal audiences and take a leadership role in the dissemination to the scientific community. The candidate will also work extensively with medical affairs and commercial teams and REC colleagues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To support the Lilly portfolio of medications by increasing or developing the knowledge and use of:

    • Real world evidence (RWE) such as retrospective and/or prospective observational studies

    • Patient focused outcomes (PFO) such as those used in randomized clinical trials

    • Economic modeling and potentially participate in health technology assessment submissions

  • Develop different types (health services, economic) of research studies for publication.

  • Conduct various analytics, and support development of analytical tools and capabilities

  • Increase or develop knowledge of health care systems in the US.

  • Increase or develop understanding of and experience with clinical trials research.

  • Increase or develop skills in Environmental Awareness, Strategy, Study Development, Project Management, Organizational Leadership

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., economics, epidemiology, health services, pharmacoeconomics, psychology, statistics, or other relevant sciences).

Other Information/Additional Preferences:

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of 2 years.

  • Some domestic travel is anticipated.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team-oriented/cross-functional environment.

  • Technical and analytic capabilities in one or more areas of economic modeling, economic evaluation, cost-effectiveness evaluation, burden of disease, epidemiology, statistics, health care policy etc.

  • Familiarity with data analytic tools and analytics languages and statistical software (e.g. R, Python, SAS).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$58,000 - $100,320

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
