Senior Metadata Specialist

ROLE SUMMARY:

As a Senior Metadata Specialist within the Data Management & Strategy Group, you will deliver on our data platform Metadata and Data Catalogue Strategy, ensuring that the collation, creation, utilization & publication of metadata is of the highest standard. This is a vital function as it informs, supports, and entrusts that the way we describe our data is correct for all our partners, both internal and external.

To be successful, you will bring a passion for understanding, explaining, and delivering on our overall data platform strategy. Your focus will be on metadata – the information which describes our data, generates our data catalogue, evidences data governance, and automates our data platform. You will partner closely with our data governance office, technology architects, and data managers. You will also be working with external customers who consume our metadata as a product.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Managing relationships and collaborating with LSEG customers and internal users and customers that require metadata, the dependent business needs, and the metadata that provides the greatest impact for those needs
• Collecting and managing requirements from product owners, product managers and other internal users necessary to deliver our data platform
• Partnering with the enterprise-wide metadata data management team to design business processes which enable metadata management
• Overseeing how metadata is collected, curated, and managed in the data platform
• Working with the data governance office to understand, communicate, and implement governance policies that oversee our data
• Defining roadmaps, prioritizing projects & engaging with the relevant teams, to ensure metadata initiatives can be delivered in line with the strategy
• Communicating to Data & Product Managers the value of metadata, enabling them to articulate that to both internal and external stakeholders
• Driving adoption of the strategy across new & existing propositions, product lines &/or services to better address current and future client needs
• Leveraging (and expanding) existing metadata initiatives to drive tangible benefits
• Managing the cataloguing of data assets to support digital initiatives in the Data Platform

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Exceptional, demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong desire to collaborate widely across many teams
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is easily understood by all stakeholders, including external customers
• Experience with requirements gathering, requirements writing and agile delivery
• Experience with process automation and process improvements focusing on efficiency and data quality
• Understanding of logical models, data dictionary, business glossary and data catalogue
• Experience in metadata modeling, or a desire to learn
• Experience with open standards and vocabularies such as DCAT and ODRL
• Background with data management in the financial industry
• The ability to work effectively as part of a global team, but also to act independently
• Eagerness to learn and collaborate with others, quick learner and able to work with little supervision
