What you’ll be responsible for:

As one of the tech leads of the Data Engineering team, you own the data warehouse and pipelines that are used for analytics and reporting. Your work powers Circle business functions, including product development and regulatory reporting for actionable insights and operational excellence, so as to fuel and accelerate business growth. In this role, you will reshape how data moves across the company and mentor junior engineers on the team. High integrity to data accuracy and quality is crucial. Your work will directly impact Circle’s transparency, trust, and accountability needs.

What you'll work on:

  • Improving the accessibility and functionality of data at Circle.

  • Working closely across groups, particularly product, engineering, analytics, and business teams to design and manage scalable data life cycles of new and existing products.

  • Providing thought leadership among the data and engineering organizations. 

  • Setting the standards for code quality, design quality, and documentation. Pushes to define those standards and institute them to be practiced across the team

  • Designing, building and maintaining data ETL/ELT pipelines to source and aggregate the required data for various data analyses and reporting needs.

  • Re-thinking how data is stored and processed today, with AI tools and Circle’s data platform.

  • Collaborating on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of a scalable data platform that ingests, stores, and aggregates various datasets.

  • Being a domain expert on data modeling, data pipelines, data quality and data warehousing of product data.

What you’ll bring to Circle:

  • 7+ years of professional data engineering experience.

  • Experience leading teams (>5) technically on data architecture and system design.

  • Ability to work autonomously and identify and deliver on impactful projects with minimal guidance.

  • Zeal for tackling complex and ambiguous problems.

  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to collaborate with across remote teams, share ideas and present concepts effectively.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Scala, Python).

  • Expertise in SQL within data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.

  • Experience with workflow orchestration management engines such as Airflow, Dagster, DBT, etc

  • Experience with Cloud Services (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc).

  • Experience in building scalable infrastructure to support batch, micro-batch or stream data processing for large volumes of data.

  • Experience in data provenance, governance, and big data technologies (including open-source solutions).

  • Background in blockchain or financial data is a plus.

Starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that compensation ranges may differ for candidates in other locations.

Base Pay Range: $172,500 - $227,500
