Explore bank accounts, loans, mortgages, investing, credit cards & banking services»Wells Fargo’s Model Risk Management (MRM) organization is seeking an experienced quantitative analyst to join its Wealth & Investment Management Model Risk Oversight (WIM MRO) Group as a Lead Quantitative Analytics Specialist (LQAS). The responsibilities of the WIM MRO Group include managing the model risk over the model lifecycle including risk ranking, validation, and performance monitoring, etc. for models used by Wells Fargo’s Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) business. In this specific position, the analyst shall focus on models for providing financial advisory and investment management services to Wells Fargo’s clients, and for supporting WIM’s business decisions.
MRM operates in a fast-paced work environment with continuously changing policies and technologies. The successful candidate is expected:
- To be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, and produce work products that are consistent with MRM’s recognized high standards.
- To lead model risk management activities, including model validation, risk ranking, performance monitoring, change management, etc., and coach junior team members.
- To have in-depth knowledge of modeling techniques, particularly in investment management and financial advisory areas, including but not limited to, data sourcing, cleaning, and sampling, feature engineering, various modeling frameworks, model replications, model performance assessments, test model development, and model monitoring.
- To provide effective challenges, guidance, and advice to WIM business related to model development and model risk management.
- To develop reusable code and libraries to accelerate WIM model validation and other model risk management activities.
- To write high quality analytical reports to ensure compliance with governance policies and regulations.
- To communicate effectively and independently with business stakeholders, senior management, regulators, and auditors.
- To be proficient with MRM framework and procedures and to support their further enhancements.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Quantitative Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
Desired Qualifications:
- A PhD in statistics, finance, economics, computer science, optimization, electrical engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Experience in wealth and investment management industry or related experience in one or a combination of the following: investment research, investment risk management, portfolio management, capital markets, financial modeling and wealth management.
- Strong computing and programming background and knowledge of one or more languages such as Python, Matlab, R, SAS and Java. Proficiency in software engineering practice.
- In-depth knowledge of ML methodologies such as ensemble algorithms, neural networks, supervised and unsupervised learning. Experience with ML/AI computing platforms and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and Keras.
- Ability to work with large datasets and some experience in database management and tools such as Spark and SQL.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or demonstrated progress toward the designation or Financial Risk Management Certificate (FRM).
- Ability to take initiative and work independently in a structured environment.
- Excellent writing and communication skills for documentation and presentations to audiences of all technical backgrounds.
- Strong conceptual and quantitative problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to contribute independently.
- Strong intellectually curiosity and perpetual interest in learning something new.
- A team player and ability to work in cross-organizational projects and collaboratively with other groups.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
