Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) excels at the intersection of technology, art and design. Here creative individuals are challenged to explore, experiment and collaborate to create games, designs and stories using the latest technologies.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant with experience in computer vision and tool development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, and a strong understanding of tool design, UX, and UI principles. Experience developing Maya plugins is a plus.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in research and development of computer vision-based tools and prototypes.
- Implement and test algorithms using OpenCV and related libraries.
- Design and iterate on intuitive and efficient tool interfaces with a focus on user experience.
- Collaborate with technical artists and developers to integrate tools into existing pipelines.
- Support documentation and user testing of tools and plugins.

Qualifications:
- Proficiency with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV)
- Strong understanding of UX/UI design for technical tools.
- Experience with Python and/or C++.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
