Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Deep Learning Scientist with a strong background in computer vision and medical image analysis to lead the development of advanced algorithms for deformable image registration. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, training, and optimizing deep neural networks for image alignment tasks involving multi-modal, inter-patient, and intra-patient variations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and develop deep learning-based solutions for deformable image registration in 2D and 3D medical imaging.
  • Design and implement novel network architectures that address challenges such as:
    • Multi-modal image similarity.
    • Non-linear and complex anatomical deformations.
    • Memory-efficient inference and large-scale deployment.
  • Evaluate and benchmark registration performance on clinical datasets, including CT, CBCT, MRI, and ultrasound.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to integrate algorithms into production environments.
  • Contribute to publications, patents, and conference presentations.
  • Maintain awareness of current literature and technological advancements in deep learning and image registration.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on machine learning, computer vision, or medical imaging.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Demonstrated experience with deformable image registration, either through academic research or industry projects.
  • Deep understanding of CNNs, U-Nets, transformers, and other architectures relevant to image registration.
  • Familiarity with medical image formats (DICOM, NIfTI) and libraries such as ITK, SimpleITK, or MONAI.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with clinical data in radiology or radiation oncology.
  • Familiarity with uncertainty quantification, biomechanical constraints, or topology-preserving transformations.
  • Experience with C++ for deployment of inference engines in production systems.
  • Track record of publications in top-tier journals and conferences (e.g., MICCAI, IPMI, IEEE TMI, Medical Image Analysis).

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
  • Access to diverse and meaningful medical imaging datasets.
  • Opportunities to publish and attend top conferences.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
