About the Role:

As a Senior Solutions Architect for Data Science & AI at Aura, you will be critical in designing and implementing solutions that directly contribute to our mission of online safety. You will bridge the gap between complex business challenges in digital security, data, and cutting-edge data science and machine learning capabilities. This role demands a deep understanding of data architecture, machine learning principles, and cloud computing, coupled with the ability to guide cross-functional teams (data scientists, data engineers, product managers) in delivering impactful and privacy-preserving AI products, data, and features. You will play a key role in shaping Aura's data and AI strategy, ensuring our solutions are innovative, scalable, stable, secure, and deliver tangible value to our customers.

 

Day to Day:

  • AI/ML Solution Design & Architecture:
    • Lead the architectural design and technical roadmap for complex data science and AI initiatives, focusing on areas like threat detection, fraud prevention, behavioral analytics, content moderation, and personalized safety recommendations.
    • Translate business requirements and data science model specifications into robust, scalable, and secure technical architectures for data ingestion, processing, storage, model training, inference, and MLOps.
    • Evaluate and select appropriate AI/ML frameworks, tools, cloud services (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google AI Platform), and data technologies to build optimal solutions.
    • Design and optimize data pipelines for machine learning, ensuring data quality, governance, and efficient feature engineering for our security products. 
  • Technical Leadership & Guidance:
    • Provide expert technical leadership and mentorship to data scientists, data engineers, and ML engineers, fostering best practices in architectural design, code quality, scalability, and security.
    • Champion MLOps practices, including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for ML models, automated model monitoring, versioning, and retraining strategies to ensure model reliability and performance in production.
    • Drive technical discussions and decisions for Aura's data and AI platforms, ensuring alignment with overall technology strategy.
    • Collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams to ensure AI solutions are integrated seamlessly into Aura's product suite.
  • Innovation & Proof-of-Concept:
    • Architect and oversee the development of prototypes and proof-of-concepts (POCs) for novel AI applications in online safety, demonstrating feasibility and business value.
    • Stay at the forefront of emerging AI/ML technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Large Language Models, advanced anomaly detection) and research, assessing their potential application within Aura's product ecosystem.
    • Actively contribute to Aura's long-term data and AI strategy, identifying new opportunities to leverage AI for enhanced customer protection.
  • Security, Privacy & Responsible AI:
    • Design data and AI solutions with an unwavering focus on data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Embed principles of Responsible AI, including fairness, transparency, explainability, and bias mitigation, into all architectural designs, given the sensitive nature of online safety.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
    • Effectively communicate complex technical architectures, trade-offs, and roadmaps to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, product teams, engineering teams, and potentially external partners.
    • Foster a collaborative environment aligned with Aura's "One Team" value, facilitating knowledge sharing and consensus-building across technical  

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning. A Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software and data architecture, with at least 5+ years specifically focused on designing and implementing large-scale data platforms that support the deployment of Data, Data Science and ML solutions.
    • Proven track record of architecting and delivering production-grade machine learning models and data pipelines, ideally within a cloud-native environment.
    • Cloud Platforms: Deep expertise in one or more major cloud providers (AWS strongly preferred) and their respective data/AI services (e.g., AWS S3, Redshift, Databricks and MLFlow).
    • Data Technologies: Strong proficiency in data warehousing, data lakes (e.g., Delta Lake), streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis), ETL/ELT processes, and robust data modeling for analytical and ML applications.
    • Programming: Highly proficient in Python and Spark
    • Databases: Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
    • Big Data Frameworks: Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Ray) is a plus.

Pay range for this position is $160,000-225,000, but may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
