About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile Platform team. This is a critical leadership role for someone who combines deep mobile platform expertise with an obsessive passion for craftsmanship and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

You'll be a hands-on leader who understands what makes mobile platforms truly great—someone who appreciates the nuances between iOS and Android, champions consistency across every interaction, and believes that the smallest details matter. As a player-coach, you'll roll up your sleeves to unblock your team while building the foundation that enables Claude's mobile excellence.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing mobile platform engineering team with an unwavering focus on quality and craftsmanship
• Define and execute the technical strategy for mobile platform initiatives that elevate our apps to have best-in-class performance, reliability, and UX 
• Champion platform consistency and attention to detail across every aspect of the mobile experience
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure platform investments enable scalable and exceptional user experiences
• Drive engineering excellence through hands-on involvement, unblocking technical challenges alongside your team
• Create clarity and direction while navigating the ambiguity of a rapidly scaling organization
• Take an inclusive, equitable approach to hiring and developing engineers who share your passion for platform excellence

What you and the Mobile Platform team might do in your first few months

• Recruit and build a diverse and world class mobile platform team
• Work cross-functionally with design and product to ship and adopt a mobile design system
• Establish best practices for client observability
• Identify and prioritize fixing user pain-points and inconsistencies in the core product offering

You may be a good fit if you have

• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with at least 3 years focused on mobile platform or infrastructure
• A deep understanding of what makes iOS and Android platforms unique, including their design philosophies and technical nuances
• Obsessive attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to mobile craftsmanship
• Proven ability to be hands-on, rolling up your sleeves to unblock technical challenges
• A track record of building platforms that enable teams to ship consistent, high-quality experiences
• Excellence in cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams
• A player-coach mentality that balances strategic thinking with hands-on technical contribution
• Passion for the craft of mobile development and the ability to inspire that passion in others

Strong candidates may also have

• Experience building mobile platforms that scale from startup to millions of users
• Background in creating developer tools and infrastructure that accelerate team productivity
• Deep expertise in platform-specific patterns and best practices across iOS and Android
• A track record of elevating mobile app quality through platform investments
• Experience building and mentoring teams that share your passion for mobile excellence

The expected salary range for this position is:

Annual Salary:$320,000—$405,000 USD

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
