At ANZ, we're applying new ways technology and data can be harnessed as we work towards a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.
About the Role
As the Senior Data Scientist (CTD) you will be responsible for leading analytics projects and research that support the accountabilities of the Culture Talent & Development (CTD) function in T&C. Your primary focus will be on scoping, building and applying analytics approaches that help drive understanding of the employee experience of ANZ’s leaders; and in doing so provide diagnostics, analytics insights and recommendations that can be used to drive the optimal employee experience, so that these leaders can deliver ANZ’s strategy and aspirational culture. You will partner closely with Head of Leader Experience & Culture COE, and the Head of Executive Resourcing & Talent Development; as well as being as key member of the Workforce Strategy & Analytics Data Science Team.
What will your day look like?
- Design and manage analytics and research methodologies that enable Culture and Talent Development to meet project goals and address complex workforce challenges—such as enhancing the experience of senior executives and 7,000 people leaders.
- Lead analytics workstreams that generate clear, practical insights for decision-making, using both quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g. ethnographic research) to solve people-based business problems.
- Develop sustainable, reusable data science practices that align with external standards and the expectations of the Workforce Strategy and Transformation function.
- Apply advanced analytics techniques, including AI and machine learning, to embed predictive and prescriptive insights into Culture and Talent Development initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align analytics with business needs, and influence change through compelling storytelling, data visualisation, and insight-driven engagement.
- Ensure ethical and responsible use of people data, maintaining high standards of data integrity, privacy, and contributing to the broader Workforce Analytics and Workforce Strategy and Transformation strategy.
What will you bring?
- Corporate analytics experience: Proven background in a similar role within a large corporate environment, with strong HR data knowledge and ideally a foundation in organisational psychology.
- Strategic problem-solving: A strategic thinker with a lateral mindset, able to solve complex business challenges using available data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
- Advanced technical capability: Proficiency in advanced analytics, including statistical methods and coding (e.g. Python, R, SQL), with experience using tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qualtrics, GCP (e.g. BigQuery), and PostgreSQL.
- Data storytelling and visualisation: Strong ability to communicate insights through compelling narratives and visualisations that influence decision-making.
- Stakeholder engagement: Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, and work autonomously in high-impact environments.
- Collaborative and self-directed: A highly collaborative team player who thrives in high-performing teams, with the initiative to prioritise and deliver outcomes under time pressure.
