Position Overview

Responsible for data acquisition and ongoing data integrity in University Advancement systems. Works independently to analyze, compare, manipulate, and transform data sets in preparation for upload into an SQL environment using appropriate technical functionality. Assesses software and resource needs based on project; selects and adapts software to meet specific needs. Identifies problems, anticipates needs, and resolves data issues. Creates and maintains documentation for processes, exceptions, and decision-making criteria for projects and ongoing processes.

The data analyst will manage multiple small and large-scale data projects in a high-volume and complex environment. Serves as business analyst to gather requirements, create and facilitate test cases and work with business users and application developers. Develops queries and reports to monitor and maintain data quality and troubleshoot data issues. Exercises independent decision-making while being responsible for analyzing data for accuracy, completeness and consistency.

This position will require a strong attention to detail, critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and advanced proficiency in MS office.

Duties and Responsibilities

40%  Serves as data analyst for numerous ad-hoc projects of less than 100 hours. Serves as liaison to unit. Determines appropriate tool set and approach to analyze, clean, transform and load data into the CRM system. Lead/Manage testing efforts to assigned functional area during customization, enhancement, and service pack or upgrade processes.  Assists with documenting business processes and project requirements. Cross trains and provides assistance to others as needed.

40%  Serves as data project manager to create scope, ensuring timelines and specifications are met; gathers requirements for projects greater than 100 hours. Troubleshoots problems and determines solutions on assigned projects. Works with Senior Director and/or Associate Director and Technical Lead to analyze new data projects. Serves as liaison to internal customers to the University.

20%  Performs data integrity and error check processes; Develops queries to analyze data for accuracy, completeness and consistency. Works to acquire updated data from various vendors ensuring data is entered following established guidelines. Provides advice and consultation on records and information management procedures. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience writing complex Microsoft T-SQL queries to extract data from multiple data systems, integrate and analyze data.
  • Two(2) years of data management experience working with data warehouses and large data sets.

  • Three (3+) years working with Microsoft T-SQL, experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting information and data management.
  • General knowledge of relational databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Management Studio and advanced proficiency in MS Office.
