What is this role?
We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to take charge of our data strategy and lead high-impact initiatives across credit, risk, and growth at FlapKap. You’ll be responsible for driving the vision for how we use data to power smarter decisions and better products. This role blends hands-on modeling with leadership, working closely with engineering, product, and business teams.

What will you do?

• Own and drive the end-to-end data science roadmap aligned with company goals
• Work on exciting projects leveraging GenAI/LLMs which we already use on production
• Design, build, and deploy predictive models (e.g., credit scoring, revenue forecasting, churn prediction)
• Partner with product, risk, and finance teams to translate business needs into scalable models
• Lead the development of internal data tools and dashboards that drive decision-making
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all pipelines and models
• Hire, mentor and guide data scientists and analysts
• Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate state-of-the-art ML techniques into our stack

Requirements

What skills do you need?

• 5+ years of experience in data science, including management and hiring
• Expertise in machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling
• Solid experience with Python, SQL, and modern ML libraries
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments
• Prior GenAI/LLMs experience is a strong plus
• Prior fintech, lending, or credit modeling experience is a strong plus
• Leadership experience or mentoring track record preferred
