The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of leading-edge analytics systems, solving complicated problems and building frameworks. Leads team initiatives while simultaneously participating in multiple IT project efforts with limited oversight from leadership. Contributions are felt across a breadth of development efforts. Has a working knowledge of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures. Demonstrates a keen understanding of both IT and the business we support. Serves as a subject matter expert for the application, technologies and integrations, or business processes.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to translate analytical needs into scalable data solutions using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
- Lead the design and implementation of analytics solutions that align with workspace capacity constraints and platform architecture.
- Evaluate and optimize Power BI workspace usage, ensuring performance and governance standards are met.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather detailed business requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
- Utilize SQL and optionally Python to prototype and validate data transformations and analytical models.
- Manage and prioritize the backlog for data engineers, ensuring that tasks are clearly defined and aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure data quality and integrity by performing regular data validation and cleaning tasks.
- Lead the development of data models, reports, and dashboards to support business objectives.
- Drive the adoption of self-service data tools and promote a data-driven culture within the organization.
- Conduct more complex ad-hoc analyses and provide strategic insights to senior stakeholders.
- Assist in the design and implementation of data governance and data management best practices.
- Provide On-Call third level support for priority issues, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Troubleshoot production issues and ensure timely resolution or escalation. Serve as escalation point.
- Maintain documentation for data processes, models, and tools to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Champion a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to enhance data products and processes.
- Mentor and support junior data analysts in their professional development.
- Stay up to date with advancements in Microsoft Fabric and related technologies to guide platform evolution and adoption.

Knowledge & Experience:
- Requires broad knowledge of area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of program or project management.
- Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 3-6 years of prior relevant experience.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in data visualization, Excel, and SQL.
- Experience with complex data models, reports, and dashboards.
- Ability to conduct complex ad-hoc analyses and provide strategic insights.
- Strong understanding of data quality and data validation processes.
Preferred Skills
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python or R.
- Knowledge of data governance and data management best practices.
- Knowledge of Azure environment and services, particularly as they relate to data analytics and platform integration.
