Job Summary
The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer is responsible for creating data visualization solutions to improve business processes across multiple departments. This role is responsible for tasks such as generating Tableau dashboard reports, creating business intelligence reports and visualizations, and work with team members and stakeholders. The role is responsible to design, develop, conduct unit testing, and maintain complex dashboards for scalability, manageability, extensibility, performance, and re-use. the role is responsible to collaborate with team members to create useful reports and dashboards that provide insight, improve/automate processes, or otherwise add value to the team. The role ensures consistency by adhering to a set of software coding and style guides. The role is also responsible to resolve support tickets related to Tableau reports.
Duties & Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
Responsible for developing Tableau dashboards and Tableau data sets using AtScale Semantic layer.
Leverage best practices and Papa Johns design standards to provide business dashboards that provide critical business insight to Papa Johns business users and stakeholders.
Must be able to work collaboratively with business users, data engineers, and other BI professionals.
Take existing Tableau dashboards and certify dashboard via query analysis, testing, and updating to Papa Johns standards and best practices.
Provide clean data sets / products to product owners, analytics/business intelligence teams and end users.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements (i.e., automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.).
Cross-functionally supports analytical requests for both internal and external stakeholders.
Solve complex data problems by delivering insights that help our business to achieve their goals.
Education, Experience & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
2-5 + years’ experience working as an analytics engineer, bi developer, data scientist, data engineer, or related.
Tableau Experience (2+ years) preferred
Functional Skills
BI Development as part of an agile scrum team
BI Development using tools such as Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
Experience with Data Warehouse technologies such as Google BigQuery or AWS Redshift
SQL using direct queries, views, or materialized views
Unit Testing
Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
Experience with AtScale cubes or other semantic / cube-based technologies.
Prior history with Google BigQuery including SQL query development.
