The Director of AI & Automation is responsible for providing leadership and direction to AI and automation initiatives within the firm's Knowledge Management and Innovation (KM&I) department. The Director of AI & Automation will develop a bold vision for the future, identify opportunities, implement innovative solutions, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across the organization. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the firm's legal practice through cutting-edge technology, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of an integrated AI and automation strategy that aligns with the firm’s goals and objectives.
Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the firm’s strategic AI and automation initiatives, ensuring alignment with the firm’s overall goals and objectives.
Oversee the creation, curation, and deployment of generative AI and document automation tools to ensure they are relevant, up-to-date, and engaging for our clients and attorneys.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in artificial intelligence, automation, and legal technology, and actively engage with industry organizations to ensure the firm remains at the forefront of innovation.
Synthesize the efforts of different teams across different domains to create cohesive, integrated solutions that support a long-term vision of enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of the legal services provided by the firm.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators to measure the success and impact of AI and automation initiatives, using these metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Foster a collaborative working environment, partnering with other KM&I leaders on cross-functional and inter-departmental priorities.
Prepare and present reports on key initiatives, performance metrics, and outcomes to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with the firm’s strategic goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams towards achieving strategic goals.
Deep understanding of generative AI technologies and document automation platforms and their applications in the legal profession.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to explore business opportunities.
Proven project management skills, with experience managing multiple, concurrent projects in a structured yet iterative way.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on designing and developing bespoke solutions to broad problems.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and innovative problem-solving skills.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in AI or related technology roles
Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience.
Experience working in a large law firm and/or with legal technology platforms preferred.
Demonstrated success in managing AI and/or document automation projects and driving technology adoption within an organization.

Hiring Salary Range:
