An excellent career opportunity exists with Underwriting Services, GCS Data Quality team as a Data Quality Assistant in our downtown Toronto location. In this position, you will play a meaningful role in supporting our GCS Underwriting teams that are driven every single day to think bigger, do better for our customers, and achieve desired results.

Your role is to learn and grow, to develop as a valued member of the Data Quality team.  In this role, you will support and aid our GCS National underwriting team with the processing of commercial statement of values and reports within assigned authority.  Proficiency and accuracy when assisting the team with processing of documents including providing administrative and clerical support for underwriters and other stakeholders is critical to the role.

This role is a hybrid role; you will be required to work onsite in the Toronto office two days a week and as needed. 


What you’ll do:

  • Data cleansing statement of value reports provided by broker partners in bordereaux format using both manual methods and automation tools, including the Data Vera cleansing tool
  • Documentation of system/business requirements, policies and procedures, workflows and conceptual models
  • Data manipulation and analysis to support business needs
  • Responsible for assisting full time staff with short term projects to meet business requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to manager, team members on data quality matters
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure data consistency and accuracy across the organization
  • Validate and review data for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in developing and implementing processes to enhance data quality
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

What you'll bring:

  • Completion of a related educational degree/diploma and / or accreditation
  • Ideal candidate has 1-2 years’ strong experience in an administrative and support function with proven attention to detail and accuracy while executing above average time management skills.
  • Demonstrates a desire to go above and beyond and hunger to learn and grow
  • Ability to adjust with minimal supervision where priorities may shift due to changing business needs
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with high caliber, professional business demeanor
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Suite – specifically Excel
  • Financial literacy
  • Experience in data analysis, including data cleaning and preparation, statistical analysis, problem solving strengths.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, R, SQL) would be an asset.
