The Financial Crimes Unit is seeking a strategic and technically strong  Director, Business Intelligence to elevate how we use data to identify, visualize, and communicate financial crimes risks. You will play a key role in  the business intelligence and analytics infrastructure build-out.  You will provide thoughtful analysis and lead the design and delivery of dashboards, performance metrics, and insights to manage risks.  You will help the Financial Crimes Unit make smarter and faster prevention and detection decisions while enabling the business to grow.

You will lead the transformation of our analytics ecosystem, designing strategies and solutions that empower smarter, faster, and more proactive decisions.

This is a Hybrid role. Currently, there is a min. requirement of 2 days in the office, but this may increase based on BMO’s direction.  

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly using Data Lakes to clean, transform, and present the results into a dashboard

  • Identifies trends and patterns to address identified business questions and provide insights through reporting and data visualization techniques.

  • Regularly building data visualization dashboards such as Power BI, Tableau, Splunk or similar tools. 

  • Managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership and business stakeholders. 

  • Lead a team of data analytics and reporting professionals. 

  • Works with other data and analytics professionals to optimize, refine, automate, and scale analysis into repeatable analytics solutions and decision support tools.

  • Builds various reporting dashboards using the most appropriate data extraction, data cleaning and data visualisation techniques.

  • Provides value through insights, reporting and data visualization techniques.

  • Selects, configures and implements analytics solutions for consistency and repeatability.

  • Researches and applies continuous improvement in data visualization by identifying trends and patterns to transform raw data into actionable business insights.

  • Works with different teams, management and stakeholders to enhance the usability and aesthetic appeal of data analytics solutions deployed in the organization.

  • Translates business needs to technical specifications and evaluates existing data visualization systems in order to improve them.

  • Develops data visualizations of "large" amounts of data that facilitate the intuitive presentation of data to decision makers.

  • Documents data flow, systems and processes to improve the design, implementation and management of business/group processes.

  • Develops tools and delivers training programs for use of reporting tools and self-serve analytics by non-analytical end users; may include delivery of training to audiences.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience within Data Analysis and Business Intelligence

  • 5+ yrs of experience in people-leadership roles. Seasoned experience with leading, coaching and mentoring a team of business intelligence analysts is important.  

  • Strong experience in partnering with business stakeholders to understand the problem and identify enhancement opportunities using data. 

  • 7+ years of  experience with SQL and/or SAS programming to extract, transform, and clean large data sets.

  • Knowledge in Data Science languages like Python, Random Forest is a plus

  • Strong understanding technical design– able to dive into the business process to understand the current vs. future state

  • 7+ years of expertise in Data Management – data extraction, cleaning, and transformation  

  • 7+ years of expertise data analytics techniques

  • 7+ years of expertise data flows, systems.

  • 7+ years of expertise data designs

  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.

  • Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.

Salary:

$103,500.00 - $192,500.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
