The Opportunity

"A Data Center Ops role at FICO is an opportunity to support all internal and external customers by providing the space, power and layer one connectivity to FICO Networks, FICO Storage, FICO Mainframe, FICO Compute and Customer Hotel Lockers." – Sr. Manager, Data Center Operations (GTS)

What You'll Contribute

  • Maintain an optimally controlled environment for servers, troubleshooting network, server, and application issues

  • Monitor and perform on-going maintenance on servers and network equipment

  • Rack and stack data center equipment, including but not limited to servers, networking devices, monitoring systems, and other equipment

  • Document and maintain currency of standard operating procedures (SOP)

  • Asset management tasks focused on inventory of data center assets (ServiceNow)

  • Windows, Linux, and/or VMware knowledge preferred

  • Experience with data center power management solutions such as Power IQ

  • Familiarity with workflow and ITSM tools and ticketing systems

  • Executing Smart Hands support on network and server hardware, involving connecting test sets or test routers to equipment, measuring light levels, offering planned maintenance or circuit migration support, troubleshooting hardware issues on any device, and performing the racking and de-racking of any installed device.

  • Power cycling routers, servers, switches, and soft-booting servers.

  • Providing additional services such as cage or rack builds, circuit migrations, and audits, etc.

  • Additional services may encompass but are not limited to: cage builds and equipment installation, rack builds, racking and stacking of equipment, cabling and labeling according to cabling diagrams, copper cabling installation and testing, multimode fiber optic cable installation and testing, and single-mode fiber optic cable installation and testing

  • Performing cleaning and inspection of all fibers.

  • Properly labelling equipment and cables with aisle, shelf, and unit designations

  • Diagnose hardware issues, coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements (RMA process), and ensure timely resolution

  • Handle incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate hardware inventory, and manage stock levels of IT components

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of physical infrastructure, cabling layouts, rack configurations, and associated processes

  • Maintain office IT infrastructure, including hardware and network systems

  • Strong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systems

  • Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers

  • Experience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is required

  • Proven experience in racking, cabling, and working with data center facilities management tools (power, cooling, etc.)

  • Familiarity with basic scripting in Bash and Python within a Linux environment is a plus

  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds​

  • Providing 24 x 7 support as part of a technical escalation rota.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel.

  • Provide IT support to staff and customers, as well as responding to the server

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with all organizational levels.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with hardware vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams to ensure efficient operations

  • Strong ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing requirements

  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, often with minimal supervision

  • Conduct and support audits for compliance (e.g., FM Global, PCI/PII, security protocols) and ensure adherence to industry standards.

  • Solid hands-on experience in data center engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.

  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols

  • CCNA certification is a plus
