Job Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

This position will be responsible for the financial performance, Hospital cleanliness, Patient satisfaction, and employee satisfaction.
While assisting the area supervisor, this position provides technical supervision to Environmental Services staff. The scope of supervisory responsibility is limited to direction, guidance & explanation, in addition to performing any or all of the tasks performed by the Aide II or Unit Associate.


 

Qualifications

Education

  • High School or GED preferred
  • Must be able to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations at a level generally acquired through a high school education.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.


Experience

  • One and more year of job experience in Healthcare Environmental Services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Performs duties/responsibilities of the Aide II or Unit Associate for approximately 50-75% of shift.
  • Assists the supervisor in checking in employees, distributing keys/equipment, and checking cleaning quality and procedures used in the completion of daily assignments.
  • Responsible for coordinating activities and production of a small group of employees in a defined area, interfacing with clinical staff to distribute workload and assure productivity.
  • Coordinates activities /assignments with other departments to complete assigned projects.
  • Responsible for supervising a small group of employees (10 or more) and/or specific tasks in specific areas such as move jobs, patient transport, flood control, stripping and refinishing floors.
  • Performs QA Inspections using ATP monitoring system upon discharge.

  • Conducts and documents staff meetings; attends departmental/interdepartmental meetings as required.
  • Makes recommendations on follow-up training and disciplinary action.

     Operates mechanical equipment such as floor machines, auto scrubbers, burnishers & carpet extractors.

  • Secures dysfunctional equipment against unauthorized use. Reports breakdowns to supervisor.

  • Performs other similar or related duties that may be assigned or as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires physical ability to bend, stoop, reach & climb ladders. Must be able to lift more than 50lbs several times per shift. Must be able to perform repetitive motions in the process of drymopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, and hand scrubbing. Must be able to operate & control high-powered equipment.
  • Requires interpersonal skills sufficient to direct subordinates & assign tasks.
  • Requires technical knowledge of general & specialized cleaning procedures & products.
  • Ability to comprehend basic regulatory codes and accreditation standards (DPH, JACHO, OSHA etc.)
