Oracle's Analytics division is looking for an experienced and highly-motivated Senior Principal Applied Scientist to work on AI-based analytics and intelligent applications. In this role you will be responsible for tackling cutting-edge, ambiguous problems in the intersection of generative AI, agents, analytics, machine learning, and optimization. You will lead the design of novel approaches to natural language based interaction with structured data, agentic systems for multi-faceted data analysis, personalization and customization and AI models for industry verticals like finance, supply chain management, or enterprise resource management. You will conduct in-depth research, produce production-grade code and prototypes, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to integrate your work into applications and services. This role requires in-depth expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI, the ability to design advanced solutions to the most ambiguous and challenging problems in enterprise AI, and a history of successfully transitioning science solutions into production environments. In-depth experience with LLMs, fine-tuning, in-context learning, agents/agent frameworks, tool orchestration, planning/reasoning, and model evaluation is a must. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with machine learning approaches for structured data, tabular representation learning, nl2sql, graph-based learning, time series modeling, operations research, and optimization.

Responsibilities:

• Assume a scientific leadership role within a  larger science team to develop innovative science solutions in response to business requirements.

• Research and develop innovative approaches leveraging recent advances in generative AI, mathematical optimization, and  machine learning for structured data.

• Write high quality code to rapidly prototype new approaches and contribute to writing production model code.

• Collaborate closely with engineering stakeholders to deliver solutions into products.

• Identify new opportunities for scientific exploration and evaluate emerging technologies.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level scientists.

• Provide advice to leadership and contribute to strategic planning.

• Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends and advances in the scientific community.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years work experience in AI/Generative AI/Machine Learning in an industry setting.

• Strong publication record in first-tier journals or conferences (ACL, EMNLP, Neurips, ICML, ICLR).

• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and architectures, including engineering constraints.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong communication abilities. 

• Ability to guide and mentor junior scientists.

• Proficiency in python; distributed training/inference of foundation models; frameworks/protocols such as LlamaIndex, LangGraph, OpenSearch, MCP, A2A

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $139,400 to $291,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
