Sector Data and Insights Analyst

Permanent, Full time: 35 hours per week

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Home based in England, Scotland or Wales with occasional national travel

About the role
The Sector Data and Insights Analyst will help Enginuity harness sector data to deliver actionable insights and market intelligence. Using BI dashboards and reports, this role supports informed decision-making across the Engineering and Manufacturing sector.

Focusing on sector trends, performance, workforce needs, skills gaps, and opportunities, the analyst will collect, analyse, and interpret data and turn this into . They will collaborate with Enginuity’s IT and Data Team to design, develop, and maintain BI systems including data warehouses and dashboards.

What you’ll be doing

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse sector data (e.g., productivity, workforce trends, skills gaps) to generate insights.
  • Support the creation of a Sector Intelligence roadmap with internal teams.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and insights for internal and external use.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand data needs and tailor insights.
  • Support external engagement with industry stakeholders and represent Enginuity when needed.
  • Present insights internally and at sector-specific events.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Assist with design and maintenance of BI systems (data marts, warehouses, lakes).
  • Ensure timely and accurate data ingestion and integration.
  • Support data quality, integrity, and compliance standards.
  • Work with IT and data engineers to enhance pipelines and automate reports.
  • Identify evolving data needs and support development of new analytical approaches.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role and experience in a data engineering role, ideally in an educational, technical, industrial, or policy-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interpret and communicate complex data for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to rapidly understand and interpret data in new or complex contexts, delivering clear, relevant, and high-impact insights
  • Ability to build Power BI dashboards that give a strong story
  • Experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI/Tableau/Qlik
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework

Other skills which would be desirable however not needed to apply for the role

  • Successfully completed vendor qualifications (e.g. PL-300, Qlik Sense Data Architect Certification, Tableau Certified Data Analyst).
  • Industry or sector experience and understanding of the engineering and manufacturing landscape, including key economic drivers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the training/skills sectors across the UK (e.g. Apprenticeships, Adult Skills, Modern Apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps, T-levels, GCSEs, SCQF)

Remote/home based working at Enginuity

Your working hours will be 35 per week, working 9am until 5pm with a 1 hour lunch.

As a home-based employee you will fulfil your job responsibilities from home. Interactions with work and colleagues will be from a virtual environment. Depending on your role you will be required to either have some occasional travel or UK national travel. This travel will be required to allow you to fulfil different parts of your role and to meet colleagues on a quarterly basis. Other meetings that might require you to travel are events such as all colleague away days, training, and project work. Please review the advert to gain this insight to how much travel is expected. Also, ask at interview stage to confirm the frequency of travel and distance.

The company will provide you with the IT equipment required to carry out your role but it is a requirement that you provide all the necessary facilities for working from home; including broadband, home office, desk and chair.
