Job Description:

This position will utilize data from several data sources, including medical claims, electronic health records, care management systems, and many other data sources, to provide healthcare data expertise to business users.  Performs ad-hoc and routine analyses and develops static and dynamic reports. Identifies opportunities for data-driven solutions, health care utilization trends and evaluates programs to guide clinical teams in population and disease management.  Able to translate business needs into information requirements, perform appropriate analytics and create user-friendly reports and dashboards.

Advanced familiarity with the relational database structures, writing and tuning T-SQL queries, SQL stored procedures, and report development in Power BI and Report Builder.  Extensive experience with statistical programming and program evaluation.  Capable of working with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to exhibit excellent creative problem-solving abilities; taking on challenging projects, mentoring Level I/II informaticist, undertaking quarterly training, and gaining the experience required to grow into more demanding roles within the team. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Critically analyzes health care trends, evaluates programs, and advises PHP staff on the significance of the data.
  • Critically analyzes trends, evaluates programs, uses statistical methods  such as linear regression, multiple variable regression, and non-parametric measures of association, correlations and other association tests, and advises PHP staff on the significance of the data.

Qualifications (Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Applied Statistics or related - Mathematics.  Masters’ in healthcare, epidemiology, business or analytics preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years working with the following concepts and technologies:
    • Relational databases and database theory and concepts.
    • Writing and tuning T-SQL queries, SQL stored procedures and report development in Power BI and Report Builder
    • Statistical programming (SAS, Python, R)
    • Working in the healthcare industry, focusing on medical claims and clinical data; knowledge of medical terminology, acronyms, and coding.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical skills; the ability to accurately scope a complex problem, break it down into subsequent components, then define a system solution.
  • Experience with geospatial analysis (QGIS)
  • Extensive experience with statistical programming (SAS, Python, R)
  • In-depth knowledge of designing, building, and maintaining relational databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of database systems, tables, and queries.
  • In-depth knowledge of developing quality measures and clinical guidelines utilizing HEDIS and National Quality Forum data sets
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Home office that is HIPAA compliant for all remote or telecommuting positions as outlined by the company policies and procedures.

Salary Range:

$73,000-$110,000
