Business Intelligence Analyst/power BI Developer

The Business Intelligence Analyst will report into the Digital Services Manager but work closely with the Service, architecture and overall Transformation Office team on developing and implementing all the required data management and reporting / visualizations for the new way of looking at the business.
They will be responsible for collecting and analysing data to identify trends and patterns that inform future business decisions. Their duties will include complex data modelling, designing data analysis methodologies and compiling reports to present to senior management.
They will be responsible for providing an analytical framework to be able to monitor key metrics over time and how they are changing.  They will use the most appropriate medium to visualise data to tell compelling and actionable stories relevant for business goals. 
They should be able to present, communicate and disseminate data appropriately and with high impact. 


The role will be heavily tied to the IT organization but will have a large degree of interaction with the business teams on the gathering of and validation of datasets to enable the analytical tools to be further developed.  They will work in partnership with the Analytics team to map, produce, transform and test new data feeds for data consumers, using tools and technologies already in use in the business area.  They will contribute to ad hoc data exploration in common data serialization and storage formats used across the business for data consumers.
They will work with the Analytics team and other analysts to integrate and separate data feeds in order to map, produce, transform and test scalable data products that meet user needs. 
They will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify areas of the business that could benefit from analysis


They will ensure they are aware of and keeps up to date with advances in digital analytics tools and data manipulation products and collects, collates, cleanses, synthesizes and interprets data to derive meaningful and actionable insights
They will handle analysis and data modeling design using data collected in our centralized data warehouse along with other data sources throughout the organization. It’s a role that combines hard skills such as programming, data modeling, and statistics with soft skills such as communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. Candidates need a well-rounded background to balance the line between IT and the business.


Principal Accountabilities Include
This role will be key to sharing thoughts and insights on the data to be able to make meaningful business change.  They will translate data into valuable insights that inform decisions.
Involves teams throughout the business in analytics and synthesis to increase consensus and challenge assumptions.  Using the most appropriate analytical techniques.  
Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
Organising and transforming information into comprehensible structures
Using data to predict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole

Key Skills and experience:
Higher level education – degree/diploma in computer science, business, mathematics, economics, statistics, management, accounting, or a related field.
Data modelling, cleansing and enrichment. They can understand conceptual, logical and physical data modelling. They can develop knowledge of data cleansing and standardisation.
Expert in Power BI - and able to support other users
Some experience of SQL would be beneficial
They can conduct data quality assurance, validation and linkage.
They can interpret requirements and present data in a clear and compelling way, using graphical representations and data visualisations.
A major benefit of this role will be someone who understands analytical tools and is numerate. 
Has a demonstrable understanding of how to expose data from systems and link data from multiple systems, they will also work with the wider team to understand, share and make use of different types of data models. 
Understands and can make use of different data tools for repeatable data processing and is able to compare different data models.
Understand the laws surrounding the collecting and processing of data and ensuring that all policies reflect current legislation
Some knowledge of the Pareto (80/20) principle 
Understands data governance and how it works in relation to other organisational governance structures. 
IT and mathematics. They can demonstrate IT and mathematical skills through relevant qualifications or work experience.
Logical and creative thinking. They can apply logic and creativity to approach a problem.
Additionally, they should have the following skills/experience: 
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be fluent in English
Strong eye for detail to ensure data accuracy 
Self-motivated with ability to use initiative
Excellent team player, being willing to support team members in the pursuit of team objectives, whilst being task oriented in order to personally deliver on time

Special Circumstances: 
To be effective, the incumbent should be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Data sources, data organisation and storage in addition to an understanding of business issues within sales, purchasing, finance and manufacturing.
Quartiles and quadrant analysis on customer and products for all the IG businesses
Quartiles and quadrant analysis for suppliers and all parts for all the IG businesses
Material margins analysis data
Development of key operational data streams involved in the reshaping of operational metrics that align with 80/20 principles 
Examples being OTD by quadrant by entity
Lead time comparisons for different quads
Numbers of quad 4 customers and products ended in each business
