The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in HE lab. The HE lab at CCEB investigates molecular mechanisms in physiological and pathological contexts using cutting-edge chemical biology techniques, including genetic code expansion and chemoproteomics. We are a dynamic, collaborative lab fostering innovation at the intersection of chemistry and biology.

We seek a creative and motivated Research Assistant to establish our computational analysis platform and perform computational protein design. This role emphasizes dry lab computational work while providing exposure to wet lab techniques in our highly interdisciplinary environment spanning chemistry, computational biology, biochemistry, and protein engineering.>

The Research Assistant will take on a significant role in contributing to the computational chemical biology research.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Establish the bioinformatics platform

  • Acquire proficiency in discipline-specific knowledge and new skills that are required by the project.

  • Plan, design and implement research independently.

  • Help supervise undergraduate students.

  • Assist with organization and management of the research team.

Job Requirements: 

  • BSc in Chemistry, Biological Sciences or related discipline with training in analytical thinking and experimental design.

  • Strong foundation in scientific writing and communication.

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry

  • Advanced knowledge of bioinformatics tools and packages, including experience in processing and analysing high-throughput sequencing data.

  • Highly proficient in R, Python, and Linux, with hands-on experience in data wrangling, pipeline development, and statistical analysis.

  • Skilled in Machine Learning, including supervised and unsupervised methods for biological data interpretation.

  • Able to work both independently and in a collaborative research environment
