Role Overview

Join us as a Senior Analyst in our R&D team, where you will lead research initiatives and oversee the development of cutting-edge products focused on guiding marketing strategies and optimizing network experience that enhance telecom ROI. Your analytical expertise will be instrumental in shaping strategic decisions and delivering impactful solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow as a leader in product development, taking full ownership of projects throughout the entire R&D lifecycle—from ideation to execution. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in advancing Opensignal’s analytics capabilities and driving innovation in our data products, ensuring they deliver impactful solutions for the telecom industry.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Partner with client- and market-facing business and product teams to transform client needs into actionable research and product innovations.
- Scout, evaluate, and integrate new data sources to enhance our existing datasets.
- Lead projects involving comprehensive analyses of large datasets, extracting actionable insights and presenting them through advanced visualizations.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists to develop and implement machine learning and statistical models to drive product development.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, communicating your findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead the creation of new metrics and dashboard analytics, empowering our clients with deeper insights into both subscriber performance and experience on mobile and fixed broadband networks.
- Focus on network experience and marketing decision drivers that influence telecom ROI, ensuring our products deliver significant value to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Define Customer Needs and Pursue Solutions
- Collaborate with product and client-facing teams to understand our clients’ needs
- Break down complex problems into discrete issues and determine which ones to prioritize and pursue
- Collect, Clean and Set-up Data
- Discover new third party data sources that add value to our products and insights
- Evaluate external data sources for usefulness, reliability and ease of integration
- Wrangle structured and unstructured data from diverse sources into a standardized form
- Play with the data until it breaks and surface issues that inform product design choices
- Analyze and Visualize Data
- Design and conduct comparative analyses of large complex datasets to determine next steps for data product development
- Summarize analysis using a wide range of data visualization techniques to determine the types of insights derived from the product and data limitations
- Prototype new ways of visualizing and interacting with our data
- Prototype New Product Concepts
- Translate findings from data analysis into practical solutions that are able to be deployed in production code
- Develop productivity, analysis and insights tools using generative AI tools like ChatGPT for internal and client audiences
- Communicate Insights
- Draw relevant conclusions from analysis and make recommendations based on how these conclusions impact new and existing products
- Document data definitions to be embedded in new products and business rules for analysis of these new data
- Work with internal teams (product development, client services, data operations) to translate analytical findings into technical product requirements and insights for clients
What we need from you:
- Proven experience in leading projects applying quantitative analysis and data modeling to deliver business insights or develop data and analytics products.
- Proficient in Excel, SQL (Athena and Redshift preferred), Desire to learn Python for data analysis and model building.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Desire to get hands dirty working with data every day, balanced with ability to surface actionable insights that shape product development decisions
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, contributing to common goals.
- High sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks in a multitasking environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Independent learner with a passion for acquiring new technical skills and applying them creatively.
Nice to haves:
- Knowledge of Tableau (Desktop, Server, and Prep Builder), or similar data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working practices.
- Experience with geospatial data.
- Telecoms market and/or network performance expertise
