The Initial Project

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing team on a contract basis. This role is critical to improving how we collect, manage, and utilise data across our network.

Currently, data is manually processed and ingested into Snowflake for reporting. The ideal candidate will design and implement an automated solution to pull data directly from our sites in real time and integrate it into our platform with minimal manual intervention.

This is a high-impact opportunity to help us move from a batch-based approach to a scalable, automated, and near-real-time data pipeline.

Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

• Design and implement automated data pipelines to ingest real-time data from 150+ websites.
• Optimise and manage data ingestion into Snowflake.
• Ensure high data quality and reliability across multiple sources.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to support reporting, dashboards, and product features.
• Monitor, test, and maintain the health of data systems and workflows.

Administrative / Collaboration Duties:

• Work with stakeholders to define data requirements and implement scalable solutions.
• Document processes and contribute to improving data architecture best practices.
• Participate in weekly stand-ups and asynchronous team communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related field.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and pipeline scripting.
• Experience with real-time data ingestion, transformation, and workflow orchestration.
• Familiarity with Google Analytics (GA4) data structures is a strong plus.
• Experience working in cloud environments (preferably GCP).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

This is a remote role with flexible hours, aligned to the Australian AEST time zone. Youll work closely with a small, agile team using Slack, G Suite, and other tools to stay connected and deliver impact.
