Engineering | Mechanical and Aerospace EngineeringThis Researcher 3 in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering reports to Dr. Jami Shah in Digital Design & Manufacturing Lab. This position develops, executes and reviews sponsored software research project on structural design and optimization, evolutionary and ML methods; works closely and interacts with industry partners to scope out projects and statements of work; serves as lead writer on technical reports and proposals to sponsoring agencies; works closely with industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project milestones, deliverable requirements and withing the budget and schedule agreed upon during project scoping; uses advanced technical expertise and established leadership skills in determining the most direct path for program success and provides sound technical solutions for complex problems and establish novel test controls drawing upon personal experience; works closely with OSU faculty, MAE staff and students to coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks; establishes priorities and supervises undergraduate students, graduate students and/or laboratory staff by providing developmental opportunities coaches to foster development, evaluates performance, cultivates relationships with the goal for bringing in sufficient funding to support position and any direct reports; leads performance of special projects and other duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
The target hiring range for this job profile is $64,300/$74,425/$84,550. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Preferred Education: Advanced degree in mechanical engineering.
Required Experience:
5-6 years of knowledge of both traditional and evolving structural design, analyses and optimization methods; VB scripting in Catia GSD, Ansys Python and APDL; linear and nonlinear FEA; proficiency in graph data structures and algorithms for geometric analysis; advanced knowledge of surface representation math; experience in writing geometry translators for complex surface features; excellent technical writing skills for research publications, project proposals and sponsor reports; effective communication, and presentation skills; established leadership and mentorship skills.
Preferred Experience:
