Job Description
As a Data Scientist in the Trading, Price, and Risk Management (TPRM) team, you will play a crucial role in developing quantitative models that enhance trading strategies, optimize pricing mechanisms, and effectively manage risk. You will collaborate with traders, risk managers, and other stakeholders to drive actionable insights from complex datasets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work closely with trading and risk teams to understand their needs and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance trading strategies. Analyse large and/or complex data sets, identify patterns, and develop algorithms to extract insights.
2. Designing and implementing machine learning models to solve complex business problems. This includes selecting appropriate algorithms, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
3. Create compelling visualizations that communicate the results of data analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Use visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau to create interactive dashboards and reports.
4. Managing data science projects from conception to completion. This includes scoping projects, setting timelines, managing resources, and communicating project status to stakeholders.
5. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science, trading, and risk management.
6. Contribute to enhancing existing models and processes through innovative approaches and continuous learning.
7. Lead a team of Data scientists and collaborate with data engineers, DevOps teams, Infra, Infosec, and UI/UX designers.
8. Maintain and monitor analytical models after production deployment.
9. Thought leadership, including staying up to date with the latest developments in data science. Continuous engagement with business users to update them on potential opportunities of data science initiatives for their business.
Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
1. MS/PhD in computer science, statistics, or operations research or related technical discipline (e.g. math).
2. Minimum 5 to 8 years of work experience in a statistical and/or data science role, with deep knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and optimization.
3. Proficient in working with large and complex data sets using modern data platforms such as Snowflake and distributed data processing tools like PySpark.
4. Preferred programming experience: Python & SQL with considerable experience with a wide range of tools including SparkML, H2O, FlinkML, TensorFlow, Pandas, R and Matlab.
5. Expert in working with large data sets, simulation/ optimization, and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.).
6. Data visualization experience in Power BI and/or Tableau.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong desire to work in cross-functional teams.
2. Strategic mindset and the ability to identify opportunities to use data to drive business growth. You should be able to think creatively and identify innovative solutions to complex problems.
3. Ability to lead end-to-end data science projects and work with business leadership to quickly turn insights into actions.
