Principal Big Data Developer (Beyond, Inc., Midvale, UT)

Program, debug, and test applications and frameworks to be used and shared on the Big Data stack, including Hadoop MapReduce, Spark, Pig, Hive, and various streaming technologies in a development environment. Responsible for frameworks, internal customizations, code/architectural reviews, and interfacing with business unit customers to translate ideas to requirements that can be executed. Visualize out of the box solutions to company needs and articulate the solution and vision to the business and technical leaders. Develop and deploy code on a Hybrid on premise and cloud infrastructure using Google Cloud or AWS. Utilize core tools, including but not limited to programming languages, Java and Python and the corresponding libraries and common algorithms (clustering libraries, supervised vs unsupervised training, Pandas, SciKit, Spark Mlib, and NumPy). Build APIs/frameworks for other teams'

usage. Work well with groups of business customers and IT partners. Evaluate new technologies and confidently express pros and cons of using such technologies to varying levels of the management. Provide direction to others in analyzing and solving program and system issues and problems. Adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and business needs of limited scope. Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management. Follow legal policies as directed. Mentor Jr/Sr level developers. This position is eligible for remote work in the following states: AZ, CA, CT, GA, FL, ID, KS, MA, MA, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, RI, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, WY. Salary: $159,900-$180,000 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience working as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, or other occupation/position/job title involving enterprise application development.  

Must also have experience with the following special skills: 5 years of professional experience in a multi-platform environment including application development or database development; 5 years of professional experience utilizing Java 7, Maven, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment; 2 years of professional experience utilizing Oracle, Hadoop (including Pig, MapReduce, Hive, Sqoop, and HBase), and R; 2 years of professional experience with streaming technologies including Spark, Storm, and Kafka to build with near real time analytics platform; and 2 years of professional experience with common data structures and formats including JSON, XML, ORC, and Avro.

Physical Requirements:


This position requires you to sit, stand and perform general office functions. You may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
