ABOUT THIS ROLE 

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of our enterprise-wide data architecture strategy. This critical role will oversee both internal enterprise systems (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite) and external customer-facing data platforms, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance data infrastructure.

As a senior technical leader, you will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales,  and IT teams to define and implement data strategies that support operational efficiency, compliance, and product innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture & Strategy

• Define and evolve the enterprise data architecture roadmap in alignment with business and technology strategies. 
• Design scalable data models, data pipelines, and storage solutions for structured and unstructured data across the organization. 
• Champion a modern data stack including data lakes, data warehouses, real-time streaming, and APIs. 
• Establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and architectural best practices.

Solution Design & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end solution design for enterprise data initiatives including data warehousing, data lakehouse, AI/ML enablement, and real-time analytics.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement data pipelines, ETL/ELT jobs, and API integrations.
• Review and validate data models, data flows, and technical designs.

Governance & Quality

• Partner with data governance teams to implement metadata management, data lineage, data cataloging, and data privacy frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
• Define policies for data lifecycle management, retention, and archival.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineering teams to align data architecture with evolving needs.
• Mentor data engineers, analysts, and architects across the organization.
• Present data architecture strategy to executive leadership and guide investment decisions.  

Scalability & Performance:

• Optimize data pipelines for reliability and performance at scale, enabling analytics, AI/ML, and business intelligence.

Leadership & Mentorship:

• Act as a technical mentor for data engineers and analysts; provide architectural guidance to development and infrastructure teams.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture roles
• Expertise in enterprise data platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday, or NetSuite
• Deep knowledge of modern cloud data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Exposure to AI/ML pipelines and MLOps frameworks.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT, data warehousing, data lakes, and real-time streaming architectures
• Proficiency in data modeling, data governance, and data security best practices
• Proven ability to architect data solutions across both internal business systems and customer-facing environments
• Familiarity with compliance requirements for customer and enterprise data (GDPR, SOC 2, etc.)
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
