The Product Manager plays a pivotal role in Rapsodo’s sports technology innovation, with a strong focus on leveraging data to drive product direction and customer insights. This position is accountable for defining product requirements, leading analytical initiatives, and ensuring high-quality product delivery aligned with customer needs and business goals. A core function of this role is to use data analytics to inform product strategy, optimize user experiences, and validate key product decisions.

Key Accountabilities

1.     Drive Data Strategy and Analytics

  • Lead the development and execution of data analytics initiatives to gain deep insights into customer usage and product performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define analytics needs, translate business questions into data projects, and deliver actionable insights.
  • Design, implement, and manage dashboards and reporting tools to monitor user behavior, feature adoption, and product health.
  • Apply data science principles (segmentation, cohort analysis, funnel analysis, etc.) to support go-to-market strategies and customer targeting.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to ensure data integrity, governance, and pipeline optimization.

2.     Translate Market and Data Insights into Product Strategy

  • Conduct market research, user interviews, and usage analytics to shape product direction and gather insights.
  • Use data to identify pain points, discover growth opportunities, and support hypothesis validation.
  • Synthesize insights for key stakeholders and influence roadmap decisions with clear evidence.

3.     Author and Own Product Requirements

  • Define detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), including data instrumentation needs and success metrics.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and UX to deliver intuitive, data-informed user experiences.
  • Work with Product Analysts to maintain a well-prioritized backlog driven by data insights and customer value.

4.     Lead Stakeholder Alignment Sessions

  • Facilitate workshops and brainstorming sessions to collect cross-functional input and align on scope and metrics.

5.     Prioritize High-Impact Features

  • Apply frameworks like RICE or MoSCoW with input from data analysis to ensure focus on outcomes, not just outputs.
  • Continuously reassess roadmap priorities based on evolving data.

6.     Support Agile Product Development

  • Break down epics and user stories with clearly defined KPIs and experiment plans (where applicable).
  • Act as Product Owner in Agile ceremonies with a strong command of feature-level data impact.

7.     Monitor and Optimize Product Performance

  • Track KPIs across lifecycle stages, from activation to retention and monetization.
  • Use A/B testing and experimentation results to iterate on features and improve business outcomes.

8.     Launch Products with Data-Rich Support

  • Drive launch readiness with dashboards, forecasted metrics, and retrospective performance reporting.
  • Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for data-backed product justifications.

9.     Contribute to Business Cases and Strategic Planning

  • Use market, customer, and product data to construct compelling business cases and investment justifications.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 4+ years in product management, ideally in sports tech, SaaS, or consumer hardware. Proven track record integrating data and analytics into product planning and delivery.

Technical Skills:

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Scripting & Analytics: Working knowledge of Python (Pandas, NumPy) or R for exploratory analysis.
  • Data Warehousing: Familiarity with tools like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Experimentation: Experience with A/B testing tools and interpreting test outcomes.
  • Agile Product Management: Strong in backlog grooming, user story writing, and sprint planning.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, cross-functional leadership, and stakeholder management. Ability to balance data depth with strategic clarity in high-pressure environments.

Success Metrics:

  • Customer Insight Depth: Breadth and clarity of analytics used in product development.
  • Data-Driven Revenue Impact: Contribution of product improvements tied to measurable data outcomes.
  • Operational Efficiency: Execution of analytics initiatives with high stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Product Experimentation Outcomes: Number and quality of validated data hypotheses and A/B tests.
