Maintains DCHHS communicable disease databases, information/ from the Health Alert Network (HAN), syndromic surveillance systems (SSS), Designs and implements programming, flow charts, design logic, tests and debugs using, MicroSoft Access databases for the DCHHS Bioterrorism Surveillance Team and Communicable Disease staff. 1. Designs, develops, and implements detailed programming, flow charts, design logic, tests, and debug, using MicroSoft Access databases and other software needed to meet departmental needs. maintains and monitors databases generated from HAN and syndromic surveillance data.

2. Assists in the design of logical and physical databases, and identification of architectural issues and the development of databases to support internet based applications using OLE DB.

3. Generates graphics of analyzed raw data for management’s use; generates database reports.

4. Maintains the development, testing, and quality assurance databases in a web-based environment.

5. Trains users in the use of software and computer equipment.

6. Tracks input data for accuracy and correctness from Microsoft Access data files. Corrects errors and implements consistency in inputting data.

7. Maintains tracking of duplicate records within a particular site by writing necessary programs.

8. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Statistics, or in a job related field of study. One (1) year of additional experience related to job summary required.

Special Requirements:
Ability to quickly grasp the primary functions, policies, and operating procedures of the Dallas County Health Department computer programs. Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of personnel from clerks to managers of each division. Ability to identify and define user task needs.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods and to be mobile in order to visit various stations within the building. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
