AI Research Scientist

Heritage Research Group is seeking an AI Research Scientist to utilize advanced technical experience in AI/machine learning to creatively solve a diverse array of research outcomes, develop data-driven solutions, and identify new areas of value creation. In this role, you will elevate our use of data tools and platforms, apply predictive analytics and AI methods, and collaborate across the organization to drive innovation. Your scientific understanding combined with data expertise will help us identify and capitalize on operational efficiencies as well as translate insights into business excellence opportunities.

***This position is based on-site in Indianapolis, IN. Qualified candidates must currently reside within 75 miles of the Indianapolis, IN area or be willing to relocate***

Essential Functions

• Develop data-driven strategies to improve operational efficiencies.
• Apply machine learning, AI, and statistical models to predict and optimize business outcomes.
• Utilize data tools and platforms to maximize materials and operational data insights.
• Analyze large historical datasets, extracting meaningful and actionable insights.
• Prototype software tools or scripts to automate workflows (heavy engineering experience not required).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data insights into business actions.
• Communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuously evaluates, tracks and proposes new technologies that are relevant to R&D and builds internal software solutions to aid research

Education Qualifications

• Required Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics or similar field. A PhD is preferred.

Experience Qualifications

• BS degree + 5-10 years of experience or PhD degree + 2-5 years of experience

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work with data tools and platforms (e.g., Citrine Informatics, Python, R, SQL).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
• Ability to develop prototypes and simple software solutions (full-scale software engineering not required).
• Adept at customizing communication for various audiences, building relationships, adapting to change, responding positively to and incorporating feedback, and addressing conflict.
• This position requires U.S. work authorization
