About the Role

Strategic Leadership and Team Oversight 

  • Define and drive the strategic direction of the Advanced Gen AI Solution Engineering function.  

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, including a manager and customer-facing prompt engineers, to deliver innovative, AI-driven legal workflow solutions. 

  • Establish scalable team structures, KPIs, and processes that align with business goals and customer needs. 

  • Foster a high-performance culture of excellence, experimentation, and continuous learning. 

Customer Innovation and Workflow Transformation 

  • Serve as the executive point of contact for key law firm clients exploring bespoke legal AI workflows. 

  • Drive the design and delivery of complex, scalable AI solutions that embed CoCounsel into customer workflows, ensuring measurable business value.

  • Guide the team to identify, prototype, and deliver advanced use cases for legal work using generative AI, with an emphasis on repeatability and scalability. 

Cross-Functional and Executive Collaboration 

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to align Gen AI solution engineering efforts with go-to-market strategy and roadmap.

  • Represent the function in executive forums, including AI governance and customer advisory groups. 

  • Influence product strategy by delivering structured feedback and market insights to the product team. 

Thought Leadership and Market Positioning 

  • Position Thomson Reuters as a thought leader in legal AI by contributing to speaking engagements, whitepapers, and strategic partnerships. 

  • Stay ahead of generative AI trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments relevant to legal practice. 

  • Champion innovation across internal teams and customer engagements. 

Operational Excellence and Program Development 

  • Lead and scale programs that support customer prompt engineering efforts, including onboarding frameworks, workflow libraries, and customer certification. 

  • Oversee resource planning for the Advanced Gen AI Solution Engineering function.

  • Ensure operational discipline, prioritization frameworks, and continuous improvement practices across all projects. 

About You

You are a fit for the Director, Advanced Gen AI Solution Engineering role if your background includes:

  • 5+ years of experience in legal technology, AI solutions, or technical consulting, with 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • Proven track record of leading technical or solution engineering teams in fast-paced, customer-facing environments.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and deep knowledge of legal practice and client needs.

  • Advanced degree or certifications in AI, Computer Science, or related fields.

  • Experience applying generative AI to business or legal workflows.

  • Experience working directly with law firms or legal departments on technology transformation.

  • Executive presence and ability to represent the company in strategic customer and industry forums.

  • Strong understanding of product development cycles, customer success, and enterprise sales.

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication, and strategic planning skills.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $135,800 - $252,200. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
