Mission and Goals

As Gen Digital’s global research organization, the research lab is focused on driving trust and safety in an online world by creating new paradigms to enable digital security and privacy. In this new area where the attackers have been exploiting vulnerabilities in human nature more and more, human centric cyber safety (HCS) becomes fundamental. With the AI accelerated human centric cyber safety solutions the team is designing, the goal is to protect the user from cyber attackers and scammers, big tech companies, and the user herself. Furthermore, the portfolio of the HCS solutions provide complete transparency to the user, to avoid AI-based manipulation from happening.

About You:

We are looking for a Research engineer to help us build a portfolio of AI-powered scam protection solutions to help people around the world feel the safe during their online transactions. As online scams become increasingly prevalent and sophisticated, the significance of robust AI-powered scam detection solutions became paramount. Due to the constantly evolving tactics and methods employed by scammers, achieving such a solution is challenging. Cybercriminals are agile and adaptive, continuously looking for new ways to circumvent existing security measures. Therefore, continuous monitoring and updates to AI algorithms and their ground truth datasets are essential. AI developers must stay proactive, keeping pace with emerging scam trends and deploying adaptive, self-learning models. Collaboration between security experts and AI researchers is a key to achieve effective and resilient scam detection solutions. This role will be pivotal in advancing our efforts to tackle the very dynamic scam ecosystem by focusing on building innovative prototypes, testing them on large datasets, and ensuring their continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams will be central to developing resilient and cutting-edge scam detection solutions.

Objectives

• Follow trends in online scams
• Identify weak points in current AI and non-AI solutions and propose solution to strengthen them
• Work alongside with AI experts to prototype, improve and maintain AI solutions.
• Engage in cloud and MLOPs processes to ensure AI solution continuity
• Having fun in creating new and crazy ideas!

Competencies

• Intermediate-level programming and problem-solving skills in languages relevant to AI (e.g., Python), with hands-on experience using libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and basic machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn).
• Experience in implementing standard machine learning models, performing data analysis, and working with data collection, wrangling, and visualization tools.
• Familiarity (e.g., internship, thesis or former work experience) with model distillation, compression and knowledge transfer (KT) for LLMs
• Familiarity with mobile development both on Android and iOS
• Familiarity with intermediate MLOps practices and cloud platforms (ideally Google Cloud)
• Past projects, innovative ideas, or problem-solving initiatives, with evidence of results presented or published in academic or professional settings are a plus.
