Overview of the role:
Join our Enterprise Data Science Team, where innovation meets impact. We are a strategic function that partners across distribution, marketing, and other business units to deliver data-driven insights that shape the future of Hartford Funds. As a Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of applying advanced analytics, generative AI, and agentic AI to solve real-world business challenges and unlock new opportunities.
You will report directly to the Head of Enterprise Data Science and play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining models that drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Design and implement innovative models, metrics, and methods to uncover actionable business insights.
- Apply generative and agentic AI to enhance business tools, automate processes, and create strategic advantages.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technology and business teams to integrate models into production environments.
- Monitor and refine deployed models to ensure continued relevance and performance.
- Integrate and harmonize data from diverse internal and external sources.
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks to streamline operations.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in data science or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with R is a plus.
- Strong data wrangling skills with the ability to manipulate and merge complex datasets.
- Demonstrated experience with machine learning, AI platforms, and model deployment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Passion for financial markets, investing, and business strategy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to iterate with stakeholders to refine models and insights.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
