GAIG Property & Casualty IT is seeking a Leader of Data Architecture to join our Enterprise Architecture organization. This role is critical in shaping and executing the data architecture strategy that supports our commercial property and casualty insurance business. You will lead a small team of data architects and collaborate with our IT Data & Analytics organization and our Business Data & Analytics group to design scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that drive innovation, operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and appropriately leverage AI.

This position is located in our Cincinnati office and will work on a hybrid schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with IT Data & Analytics, Business Data & Analytics, and our IT Customer Engagement Leads as One Team to communicate P&C IT’s Enterprise Data Technology Strategy, promote our core capabilities, gather feedback, and assess customers' needs against current capabilities.

  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data architecture and data models for our Enterprise Data Cloud Platform landscape including Snowflake and associated marketplace services like Snowpark Container Services, IDMC/CAI, MarkLogic and Elastic.

  • Collaborate with IT Data & Analytics to identify improvement opportunities for new and existing data solutions, including legacy data warehouses and pipelines when needed.

  • Create and maintain reference architecture patterns.

  • Support digital transformation initiatives, including AI/ML, advanced analytics, and automation.

  • Work through a range of design elements from detailed, physical implementation challenges to holistic, logical implementation patterns, and communicate each through diagrams and examples to break down barriers to understanding

  • Mentor and develop a small, high-performing team of data architects.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Understanding of the commercial P&C insurance domain, including underwriting, claims, policy administration, and regulatory compliance.

  • Proven experience with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, IDMC/CAI).

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data integration (ETL/ELT), APIs, and data governance frameworks.

  • Experience with current AI capabilities, including vendor provided platforms and in-house built platforms

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to craft communications for all levels of understanding.

  • Experience with cloud-native application development practices and hybrid cloud environments.
