ABOUT LVT

LVT is on a mission to make the world safer and more secure through rapidly deployable security hardware that runs on our proprietary SaaS platform. Our enterprise-grade safety and security ecosystem makes it easy to secure essentially any physical environment through intelligent automation and actionable insights. As an industry leader in the IoT space, our systems are deployed in every state and adopted by Fortune 500 enterprise companies who share this vision.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data architecture and pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and data science across the organization. You will create scalable data models using dbt and SQL, develop automated ELT/ETL workflows with tools like Python and Airflow, and optimize performance within Snowflake cloud environments. In this role, you’ll champion data quality and governance, ensure reliable data delivery from diverse sources, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver clean, well-documented datasets for BI and self-service analytics platforms such as Looker or Tableau.

Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Design and maintain scalable, well-documented data models using dbt and SQL to support reporting, analytics, and data science use cases.
  • Apply best practices in data warehouse architecture, including dimensional modeling, data partitioning, indexing, and lifecycle management.
  • Continuously improve schema design to optimize for performance and usability.

Pipeline Development & Automation

  • Develop and maintain automated ELT/ETL data pipelines using Python, SQL, Airflow, and APIs.
  • Ensure reliable ingestion and transformation of data from various sources (e.g., APIs, operational databases, third-party platforms).
  • Monitor and resolve pipeline issues to minimize data delivery latency.

Cloud Data Platform Engineering

  • Build and optimize Snowflake data warehouse environments to support large-scale data workloads.
  • Implement cost-efficient solutions through performance tuning, data pruning, and resource management.

Data Quality, Governance & Documentation

  • Implement rigorous data validation checks, lineage tracking, and monitoring to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Collaborate with IT governance to enforce data security, retention policies, and compliance standards.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with BI developers, business analysts, product teams, and executive stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering solutions.
  • Serve as a technical advisor on data access, definitions, and best practices to stakeholders across departments.

BI & Analytics Enablement

  • Deliver clean, structured datasets and semantic data layers for tools like Looker, Tableau, Sigma, or similar platforms.
  • Enable self-service analytics by exposing performant, reusable datasets with clear documentation and usage guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Analytics Engineering roles.
  • Strong experience with SQL, data modeling techniques (star, snowflake), and data transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt).
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and pipeline development.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar modern cloud-based data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift).
  • Solid understanding of workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with attention to code quality and data accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and SaaS applications into data platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes, data observability, and data cataloging tools.
  • Understanding of data governance, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA), and metadata management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical language for business stakeholders.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive problem solver.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to data integrity and engineering excellence.
  • Comfortable working in agile or scrum-based environments.
