We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our AI Team and help solve real-world AI/ML challenges across our product ecosystem. You’ll design and build production-grade solutions, contribute directly to our evolving in-house AI/ML stack, including LLM- and VLM-powered features, and help shape the future of AI at Workable.
As part of a cross-functional environment, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, QA, and operations teams to integrate intelligent features that deliver real impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply advanced AI models, including transformer-based architectures and proprietary in-house large language and vision-language models (LLMs/VLMs), to power document parsing, semantic search & ranking, classification and personalized recommendation systems.
- Drive end-to-end AI product development, from problem discovery and rapid prototyping to model deployment and iterative performance tuning.
- Design, prompt, fine-tune, and evaluate LLMs and VLMs, leveraging internal datasets, synthetic data, and prompt engineering to optimize task-specific outcomes.
- Deliver production-grade AI systems, wrapping models as robust APIs and scalable services, while contributing to testing, observability, CI/CD, and model-serving infrastructure.
- Continuously monitor and adopt advances in modern AI/ML ecosystems, including open-source models, commercial APIs, MLOps frameworks, and multimodal learning techniques.
- Communicate complex ML findings effectively, through actionable reports, visualizations, and internal presentations.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc or PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- 3+ years of experience applying machine learning to real-world problems, or equivalent PhD-level research experience
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in building and deploying ML/AI systems in a production environment
- Proficiency in recent NLP techniques and LLM/VLM workflows, including tokenization, text representation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and quantization, coupled with hands-on experience using both proprietary and open-source Transformer-based architectures.
- Strong Python coding skills and experience with PyTorch and ML techniques (hyperparameter optimization, quantization) are required..
- Familiarity with Linux-based development, Git workflows, and software engineering best practices (e.g., testing, CI/CD).
- Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and handling structured/unstructured data at scale.
Extra credit will be given to candidates with:
- Experience with large-scale vector search engines (e.g., FAISS, ElasticSearch, Weaviate, Milvus) for semantic search or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Experience with MLOPs tools, such as MLFlow
- Solid understanding of data engineering workflows, including designing and maintaining ETL pipelines for ML data preprocessing and feature generation.
- Cloud deployment experience, especially with ML pipelines and inference on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Proficiency in containerization and orchestration, such as using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools for scalable ML service deployment.
