Position Overview:
Reporting to the Group Head of Data Strategy & Insights, the Data Governance Analyst (“Analyst”) will be integral to ensuring the organization's data assets are properly managed, secured, and utilized to support business decision-making processes. The Analyst will play a key role in maintaining standards, policies, and procedures related to data governance while collaborating with stakeholders across departments to enhance data quality and integrity.
The ideal candidate will come from insurance operations or underwriting or product management, or you may be a data analyst, business analyst — either way, you're passionate about clean, high-quality data. You've taken the initiative to improve data processes and enjoy bridging business and technology with a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Data Quality Management
- Support the development and enforcement of policies to maintain high data quality and integrity across all systems.
- Assist in implementing metrics and KPIs to monitor and improve data accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborate with IT system, data delivery, information delivery, and business teams to resolve data inconsistencies and anomalies.
Data Governance Policy Development
- Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks, standards, and policies to ensure the effective management and protection of organizational data.
- Collaborate with IT, compliance, and business to align governance policies with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with data stewards, data owners, and other stakeholders across underwriting, operation, claims, actuarial, finance, risk management, and many other departments to ensure adherence to governance policies and practices.
- Advocate for data governance best practices and drive initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote data governance principles across the organization.
Risk and Compliance
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with data usage, storage, and access.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable regulations.
Reporting and Documentation
- Generate detailed reports or Power BI dashboards on the state of data governance initiatives, including metrics on data quality, compliance, and risks.
- Create and maintain documentation for governance processes, policies, and data management tools.
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience of data management, data governance, business analysis, data analysis or similar experience.
- Prior insurance experience.
- Must be very detail-oriented, accountable and organized.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong skills in Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in the insurance market directly with stakeholders.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL and data querying tools, data governance, data cataloging, data quality tools.
- Proven track record of supporting the implementation of data governance, or business analytics, or data quality projects.

Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
The salary range for this position in Chicago and New York Metro is $90,000-$105,000
