Role Overview

We are seeking a strong and dynamic Data Engineer to join a technology team focused on Re & ILS transformation. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining legacy data systems and developing roadmaps for migrating them to the cloud. You will collaborate closely with data architects, data scientists, and other technical stakeholders to help build a cloud-based data analytics platform that supports a new data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand high-value problems that can be addressed with data processing and analytics
  • Design, build, and support a new cloud-based analytics platform
  • Serve as a core member of the Data Engineering Team, collaborating with data architects and data scientists
  • Support other teams, including data science and data operations
  • Translate business requirements into development tasks and estimate their complexity
  • Research, evaluate, and adopt new technologies with a pragmatic, right-tool-for-the-job mindset
  • Balance speed of delivery with quality, ensuring solutions are appropriate and not over-engineered
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices
  • Rapidly adopt and apply core data engineering languages, especially Python and/or SQL

Requirements and Experience

  • Working knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., SSIS) and reporting tools (e.g., SSRS)
  • Understanding of analytical modeling and cubes using SSAS
  • Robust understanding of core data engineering concepts (ETL vs. ELT, structured/unstructured data, data quality, data governance)
  • Strong data modeling experience and ability to design optimized database structures
  • Experience with both traditional and modern data warehousing techniques
  • Ability to create data models, diagrams, and documentation to ensure consistency and clarity
  • Experience contributing to all aspects of a solution: design, infrastructure, development, testing, and maintenance
  • Effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders through agile ceremonies
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and cloud-native solution design
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and delivering projects end-to-end
  • High energy, curiosity, and motivation to make a difference
