About the Role

KGM Underwriting Services is seeking a talented Power BI Developer to join our growing Data & Analytics function. You'll work with teams across our motor insurance business - from Underwriting to Claims, Operations and Finance - to develop and evolve a library of MI products that provide clear, actionable insight.

As a key player in our data & analytics group, you'll champion the use of PowerBI, collaborating closely with internal business users to understand needs, and design then deliver PowerBI solutions, to streamline business processes and inform decision-making. You will contribute to the design and development of our new Databricks repository and also take ownership of migrating and rationalising existing MI, ensuring they remain relevant, accurate and valuable.

This is a hybrid role, based in Romford, with occasional travel to our Tunbridge Wells office.

What You’ll Be Doing

· Partner with business teams to understand reporting and insight needs, translating them into clear Power BI dashboards and reports.

· Build, manage and iteratively improve a library of MI products using best-practice visualisation techniques.

· Collaborate with data engineering to ensure robust data pipelines and models are available and efficient.

· Take ownership of existing legacy MI solutions, reviewing and enhancing where appropriate, rationalising and migrating to new Databricks-based data environment.

· Promote consistency, clarity and value in data presentation across the organisation.

· Evangelise the use of MI tools and self-service reporting through coaching and documentation.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

· Deep experience in PowerBI development, including DAX, Power Query (M), and data modelling.

· Strong track record of engaging stakeholders, capturing requirements, translating them into analytical solutions and driving adoption by business users.

· Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database structures.

· Demonstrable expertise in MI usability and design to maximise adoption and use (e.g. for dashboards)

· Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage and rigorously prioritise a busy workstack independently and problem-solve as challenges arise.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Keen eye for detail, delivering reliably high-quality outputs

· Appetite for continuous learning, including enhancing skills in an ever-changing technology landscape

· Demonstrates alignment with KGM’s fast, friendly and flexible proposition

Desirable:

· Experience working with Databricks or other modern data platforms.

· Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and analytics.

· Working knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate and PowerShell.

· Knowledge of the insurance industry, especially Personal Lines.

· Familiarity with Azure services such as Data Lake, Synapse or Data Factory.
