About the opportunity:

We are the internal recruitment partner for our client, a fast growing and forward-thinking organisation in the financial services industry specialising in insurance. 

We are presenting an exciting opportunity for an experienced Power BI Developer to join the team based in Lancaster.

The successful candidate will design and deliver high-quality dashboards and data models that enable teams to make informed, strategic decisions. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to bring data to life and ensure reporting solutions are both accurate and impactful.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate into functional BI solutions.
  • Optimize Power BI data models and SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of data across reports.
  • Maintain and enhance existing reports and dashboards based on changing business requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and SQL best practices.
  • Document solutions and provide user training and support where necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field is desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query (M), DAX and custom visual development.
  • Proven expertise in SQL, including complex joins and performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL, data warehousing, and ETL best practices.
  • Experience with integrating and visualising data from multiple sources.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts and data visualisations clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of insurance brokerage or financial services is advantageous.
  • Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL, Data Factory, Analysis Services is desirable.
