We are now looking for a Senior Analyst/Manager, Data Science to join transformation project team in Fibres Business Area. The position is located in Helsinki or Tampere, Finland.

What you will do

• Explore the opportunities of data regarding forest resources and industrial use of wood in a project within UPM AI Program 

• Develop models both internally with the project team and with external vendors to determine effective machine learning and decision support models that serve wood purchasing and detailed wood delivery planning for industrial sites 

• Design deployment of those models for meaningful use in UPM’s everyday operations 

• Monitor and develop the applications deployed with the project and the other operational data science stack for Fibres Finland Operations

Who you are 

• You have a relevant university degree, e.g. in mathematics, operations research or computer science 

• You have at least 5 years of experience in hands-on data science and analytics work 

• You can rely on a wide selection of data science methodologies to fit a business question at hand; experience in spatial data science or natural resource data is an asset 

• You have innate curiosity and initiative, and you want to see the project make an impact 

• You are experienced in successful AI and analytics deployments in business 

• You are fluent in English, proficiency in Finnish is an asset
