THE POSITION

As a Staff Data Architect in Data Architecture, you will focus on the Data Platform and perform hands-on design work for large and complex data solutions and the interfaces between them. The position will work other data architects and tech leaders to drive alignment across teams on platform tech strategy. You will leverage your deep expertise in modern cloud data platforms and collaborate on POCs and create architecture documentation for the entire data engineering stack, collaborating effectively across various data verticals. 

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.


THE GAME PLAN

  • Partner with the rest of the Data Architecture team to lead the development and execution of the data architecture roadmap, aligning with the organization's overall data strategy and business objectives.
  • Work effectively with leaders to communicate platform design/gaps while also being an effective evangelist for leadership vision around data platform strategy.  
  • Identify and evaluate emerging platform technologies and trends in data management and analytics, recommending strategic adoption to enhance data capabilities.
  • Design and help implement scalable, cost effective and maintainable data platforms/pipelines, leveraging cloud tools and technologies.
  • Be a hands-on partner for data engineers, product managers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, bridging the gap between strategy and execution.
  • Oversee the performance and optimization of data systems, constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build trust & foster a collaborative environment within data engineering teams, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Effectively communicate the value and impact of data architecture to various stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
  • Advocate for and secure resources to support the ongoing development and maintenance of the data infrastructure.
  • Define data models, standards, and governance policies to ensure consistent and high-quality data across the organization.

     

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 7+ years’ experience in various Data Engineering Platforms, Database management, and Big Data & AI/ML engineering
  • Deeply technical and analytical with implementation and architectural experience in Streaming, Big Data, Cloud Data Warehousing, real time analytics and AI/ML engineering. 
  • Hands on experience leading large-scale modern data platform initiatives with ETL/ELT data processing patterns, batch and stream ingestion, data pipeline orchestration, Data APIs, etc.
  • Experience with data migration techniques and process planning.
  • Certifications such as Databricks Professional, AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Big Data.
  • Strong experience in data security/compliance experience, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including optimizing new processes.
  • Ability to collaborate well and influence multiple teams, functional areas, and levels of leadership.
  • Ability to see around corners, predict needs, and identify patterns.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, team building, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills are necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field preferred.

The applicable salary range for this position is $170,000 - $223,650 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
