- Hands-On Development: As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for being the “expert” in most of the tools the team uses and will be taking stories and tasks, each sprint as needed.
- Leading Technical Design: As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for designing the technical architecture of the project. This would involve working with other team members to create a plan for implementing the technical solution.
- Mentoring Team Members: You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to effectively implement the technical solution. This might involve coaching on specific technologies, design patterns, and best practices.
- Communicating with Stakeholders: As a Tech Lead, you will be expected to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This would require the ability to translate technical terminology into easy-to-understand language.
- Driving Technical Excellence: You will be responsible for ensuring that the team is consistently delivering high-quality technical solutions. This might involve implementing quality control processes, code reviews, and other best practices.
- Collaborating with other teams: As a Tech Lead, you will be expected to collaborate with other teams to ensure the technical solution is aligned with the broader goals of the organization. This might involve working with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technology and business partners to propose and implement innovative solutions to data and integration challenges
- Architect and optimize cross-platform data integration solutions across internal systems (ERP, finance, operations) and external data sources
- Participate in the advancement and migration of Blount’s technology stack using best of breed data engineering and business intelligence tools
- Manage and enhance our modern data stack (Snowflake + Matillion + dbt + Power BI)
- Design and lead the development of reusable, scalable data models that align with business needs
- Analyze source systems (databases and APIs) for data acquisition, integration, and extraction
- Prepare, cleanse, and transform data for ad hoc analysis and prebuilt reporting purposes
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable ELT data pipelines
- Triage and communicate issues impacting data pipelines, project execution, and solution delivery
- Apply software development best practices to analytics code (i.e. version control, automated, testing, and continuous integration)
- Provide oversight and review of data engineering work to ensure alignment with integration best practices and enterprise standards
- Participate in daily scrum meetings and collaborate with other agile team members
- Participate in code reviews and promote the adoption of best practices
- Mentors and coaches fellow team members in technical best practices and proper documentation techniques
- Leads and guides other team members in data solutioning and problem-solving activities
- Train end-users on the data and visualization tools owned by the team
- Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, supporting their technical growth and professional development.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and goal setting aligned with team objectives and career path progression.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on continuous improvement, solution ownership, and cross-functional engagement.
- 5+ years of professional experience with modern data platform solutions and integration tools
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Expert SQL knowledge and experience working with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery
- Experience with ELT workflows, patterns, and vendor tools such as Matillion, Talend, or SnapLogic
- Experience with building data models for complex domains such as Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain
- Knowledge of modern data modeling and transformation tools such as dbt
- Experience with cloud data warehouse migration from on-premise technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with Agile Software development practices (story grooming, spring planning, and retrospectives)
