Your New Role

We are hiring a Data Science Engineer to work alongside two Senior Machine Learning Engineers to support and develop our Advanced Analytics platform on Azure ML. The team forms a hub within the organisation responsible for developing our analytics practices and infrastructure.

They will work with analysts in business teams to translate models from end user computing tools (e.g. excel) into python and deployed with MLOps practices designed to minimise risk, development time, and deployment complexity. They will also support more advanced data scientists within the business to shift existing python-based machine learning models into a cloud environment.  

The ideal candidate is a data scientist who enjoys developing systems or a software engineer with an interest in predictive systems. The role is more engineering than research with a bit of internal consulting thrown in.

Key duties include but are not limited to: 

• Enable teams to move their analytics models into the cloud with modern tooling and MLOps practices 

• Act as an incubator for advanced analytics with a focus on areas of lower maturity and/or high strategic value

• Deploy and automate the execution of models in production environments.

• Ensure proactive consideration of how analytics can support the Fund to make strong, strategic decisions 

• Support an Advanced Analytics Community of Practice which aides business units in the achievement of their analytics requirements (incl. guidelines, support repositories etc)

What You’ll Need  

Essential Technical Skills

• Highly comfortable with Python and SQL development in a cloud environment

• Multiple years of experience working with or supporting an analytics or data team

• Experience implementing DevOps / MLOps practices

• Experience with common ML/AI algorithms

• Support lower maturity teams with advice on structuring models with a modern data science project methods

Essential Soft Skills

• Advanced written and oral communication/ interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management

• Excellent problem solving, analytical and research skills, with a strong attention to detail

• Advanced stakeholder management expertise and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams

• Deals with ambiguity and is flexible to adjust as requirements and resources shift

   

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AzureML, MLflow, and related technologies

• Experience with Extreme Programming (XP) or pair-programming

• Previous experience in Financial Services, Superannuation

• MS Azure certifications
