DTIC-PLCT-2025-22 - Medium support technician: Technician specialized in Reinforcement Learning with applications in ML-defined Radio and Wireless Networks

Description

Research Assistant position in the area of reinforcement learning applied to wireless communications. In particular, the selected candidate will perform research activities related to the MLDR (A Machine Learning Defined Radio interface) project. In the MLDR project, we aim to develop novel algorithms for hierarchical reinforcement learning, and apply these novel algorithms in a wireless communication setting. The development of novel algorithms involves tasks such as proposing different algorithms, theoretical analysis of the chosen algorithm, implementing code and testing the implemented algorithm. 

Main research field: Reinforcement Learning

Tasks to be performed:

• Study of the state of the art in hierarchical reinforcement learning, with an emphasis on the properties of algorithms with respect to optimality and execution time. This activity is related to Work Package 2 of MLDR.

• Development of algorithms and selection of the algorithm with the best properties. Mathematical analysis of the theoretical properties of the selected algorithm. This activity is related to Work Package 2 MLDR.

• Implementation of the selected algorithm in a programming language of choice and testing of the algorithm in the application domain of wireless communication. This activity is related to Work Package 4 of MLDR. 

• Contribution to the writing of deliverables and scientific publications that are developed within the framework of the MLDR project. This activity is related to Work Package 5 of MLDR.
