Insight and Analytics (I&A) is home to the Telegraph’s Data Scientists, Analysts and Researchers. I&A is looking for a new Senior Analyst to sit within the Editorial I&A team, primarily working with the Telegraph’s Editorial staff. In this role, you will be using data to represent the voice of our readers and will be instrumental in driving data-informed decision making across audience, content and product strategies on the Editorial floor and beyond.

You will combine clickstream, content and subscription data to delve into audience behaviours, using your growing expertise and influence to make recommendations that drive reader engagement, registrations and subscriptions.  This will include working with data covering our journalism, website, app, newsletters and emails.

This role will provide a varied workload across analytics and is a great opportunity to be part of an evolving and passionate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in our continued drive to put data at the heart of the Telegraph newsroom through the use of quality analysis and impactful data storytelling.
  • Develop relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, understanding their needs and providing timely analysis and insight to measure initiatives and identify growth opportunities.
  • Become a functional expert in the Telegraph’s content and clickstream data, providing QA support to the wider team.
  • Be proactive in taking a lead role in identifying opportunities to improve processes or create new ones, acknowledging opportunities when automatable scalable solutions are required and when one-off analytics is best placed.
  • Champion data-informed decision-making within Editorial and more broadly across the organisation.
  • Proactively share knowledge within the wider I&A team and ensure the democratisation of data and insight across the business.
  • Act as a mentor and coach for more junior analysts within the team.

Requirements

  • You have hands-on experience using SQL to extract and manipulate large and often complex datasets to produce accurate and impactful insight and recommendations.
  • You can demonstrate your use of different analytics methodologies (e.g. descriptive, diagnostic, predictive) and know when to apply these.
  • You may have some knowledge or experience of statistics in Python / R,  but this is not essential.
  • You have experience of behavioural or content analytics in the Media industry.
  • You are looking to continue developing your analytics skills as well as cascading your own skills and knowledge to the rest of the team.
  • You may already have a good understanding of behavioural clickstream data and online measurement. Knowledge of content, product, CRM, and audience analytics or similar would be beneficial.
  • You can present complex information simply and impactfully, and you can demonstrate your use of storytelling with data to positively impact business decisions and outcomes.
  • You have a desire to help others. You can quickly understand stakeholder goals and turn their aims into clear analytics briefs advising on appropriate methodologies and outcomes.
  • You are proactive and naturally curious, and motivated to help others succeed
