Job Summary
The Canadian Actuarial Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for an Actuarial Analyst I to join our Toronto branch. This position will primarily provide pricing support for the Canada Treaty and Hybrid portfolios. This position will also support the Canadian Appointed Actuary in financial and regulatory filings and will work closely with all functional areas of the business.
Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To:
Price reinsurance treaties and liaise with Underwriting in support of our Canada Treaty and Hybrid portfolios, covering Property, Casualty, Professional Liability, Crop and Surety lines of business.
Support profitability study and line of business benchmark study.
Support Canadian Appointed Actuary in quarterly IFRS17 financial filings and OSFI statutory work (AA Report, Internal Target, FCT).
Provide ad hoc support to other functions of the Canadian Actuarial department including capital modeling and data and analytics.
Provide ad hoc support to other reinsurance pricing teams globally during busy renewal season.
Develop streamlined and efficient processes and perform data exploration as needed.
Participate in client visits, broker meetings and marketing events as requested.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related area.
Actively taking exams and working towards ACAS/FCAS.
Years of experience: 0-2 years in P&C actuarial pricing. Reinsurance pricing or commercial lines/large account pricing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Ideal candidate is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong business acumen, excellent time management and communications skills.
Able to articulate actuarial/mathematical conclusions in a clear and concise manner to all audiences.
Able to work in dynamic and agile environment, especially through hybrid setting.
Technical know-how, including Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, etc., is a plus.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
Able to build strong working relationships with peers, management and different business functions.
Able to collaborate across teams and regions through regular communication with colleagues in other locations.
Flexible and responsive to dynamic business needs including tight turnaround times.
