Job Description
Position Summary:
We’re looking for a results-driven AI/Data Science executive to lead the strategic expansion of Fortune Brands’ Data Science and AI function. This leader will shape our AI and algorithmic capabilities to optimize Smart Home products and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Our certified, trusted datasets are housed in Snowflake, interoperable in a semantic model, and structured for immediate usability. The platform integrates with Microsoft Teams and Copilot, enabling AI-driven applications and intelligent agents to surface insights where the business already works. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to deliver tangible business outcomes, drive cross-functional alignment, and scale predictive analytics solutions that support our digital transformation and growth strategy.
First 6-Month Performance Objectives:
You’re a strategic operator and hands-on leader who thrives on translating complex data into impactful business results. You bring technical credibility, business fluency, and a collaborative spirit. You’re equally comfortable diving into algorithms and presenting to the boardroom. Most importantly, you bring energy, vision, and urgency to scale data science as a true business accelerator.
• Define and align a roadmap of high-impact data science initiatives focused on data platform agent application, Smart Home product innovation, and strategic business needs.
• Take over leadership of the internal AI Community and drive organization-wide AI adoption through training, tools, and visibility of successful use cases.
•Identify and address gaps in infrastructure and processes to enable scalable, production-ready model deployment and MLOps.
•Deploy at least two high-value AI/ML use cases into production with measurable impact on business operations or customer experience.
•Establish an executive reporting framework to communicate data science outcomes and ROI across the business.
•Define and align a prioritized roadmap of data science initiatives tied to strategic goals, including Smart Home innovation and data platform agent applications.
Ongoing Accountabilities:
•Lead and mentor a high-performing data science team with domain expertise in digital marketing, product, and predictive analytics.
•Shape a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
•Drive development and deployment of advanced algorithms supporting operational excellence and Smart Home product capabilities.
•Partner with product and marketing leaders to embed data science in customer-facing solutions.
•Champion transparency and a ‘measure everything’ mindset across the organization.
•Influence data strategy at the executive level, contributing to both immediate outcomes and long-term innovation.
•Scale the AI/data science function to meet evolving business priorities and organizational complexity.
•Stay current with advancements in AI/ML, customer analytics, and Smart Home technologies.
What Success Looks Like:
•Deployed algorithms generate measurable cost savings, revenue uplift, or customer experience improvements.
•Cross-functional stakeholders proactively engage with and rely on the data science team to inform business decisions.
•High internal satisfaction and low churn within the data science team.
•Visibility and credibility of the function is elevated with the executive team
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Physics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Decision Sciences, or a related quantitative field. Ph.D. preferred.
•10+ years of industry-related experience in data science or research, including academic and professional roles.
•5+ years leading data science teams delivering production-grade solutions.
•Executive-level communication skills, with a proven track record of influencing senior leadership.
•Strong foundation in statistical inference, machine learning, and Python-based development environments.
•Demonstrated experience building and deploying end-to-end machine learning applications, including integration with production systems.
•Proven ability to design and implement scalable, reusable MLOps and testing frameworks that accelerate experimentation and ensure robust deployment pipelines.
•Experience building a high-performance, mission-driven team culture.

Additional Information:
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $190,000 USD - $330,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
